Ladies' Weekend in North Myrtle Beach

Summer is the classic season for family vacations, but it’s also a great time for ladies to break their routines and organize a getaway with their closest girlfriends.  North Myrtle Beach is perfect for a women’s weekend – from spas, to restaurants, to concerts, to (of course) the shore, there are plenty of places to relax and truly enjoy your summer.  It’s also close to Myrtle Beach, which offers its own set of attractions. We’ve put a list together below to help you start your planning.

Beach

Hours of beachside relaxation are part of a standard summer ladies’ vacation, and as Trip Advisor’s best beach in the country, North Myrtle Beach offers a coastline that can’t be beat. You can also organize some water-related activities; Harbourgate Resort & Marina has fishing and boating expeditions and Jet Ski rentals. Vacation Rentals of North Myrtle Beach currently has a two-bedroom condo available at Harbourgate.

Spas

Sure, spas are a good way to pamper yourself any time, but what’s more relaxing than getting pampered mere minutes from the beach? Touch Healing Wellness and Med Spa offers packages, ideal for large parties – we recommend the Divine Journey, which includes a facial, massage and a glass of wine in the relaxation room.

Yoga

Vacations are meant to revitalize body and mind, and yoga does both. Plus, doing it on vacation means it doesn’t matter if you can’t quite master the Downward Facing Dog – no one will know you. (Except your friends. They probably won’t let you forget it either.) Take a single class at Yoga Divita for only $6.

Dining

The North Myrtle Beach area has a wide range of cuisine; you’ll find a restaurant to suit everyone’s pallet. Try The Brentwood Restaurant & Wine Bar in Little River, which is right next to North Myrtle Beach. The establishment specializes in low country French dishes, and head chef Eric Masson was the champion of Coastal Uncorked’s 2011 Iron Chef competition.

Our local guide has more details on dining options in the area. We also have a great condo available to rent in Little River – it can easily fit seven people, making it ideal for group vacations.

Entertainment

The beach can get  - well, not boring, but you’ll all want to take a break from the sun and focus on something other than tanning for a while.  North Myrtle Beach does offer several alternatives to the shore, including shopping, live music and theater.

Barefoot Landing, located on Highway 17, has a diverse selection of stores, ensuring you’ll find the perfect souvenir for your trip. It’s also home to the Alabama Theatre, which is the Grand Strand’s premier location for live entertainment.  Paula Deen recently gave a cooking demo there, and Jim Gaffigan will perform standup at the theater in August.

Myrtle Beach’s House of Blues is another great spot for concerts and other live shows.

Broadway at the Beach, located in Myrtle Beach, is one of the area’s largest entertainment complexes and has some good nightlife options as well. Its Celebrity Square, for instance, boasts several bars and restaurants that offer drink specials and happy hours all summer long.

There are tons of smaller shops, theaters and boutiques around the area if you’re into more local flavor.

Events

Summer is festival season in North Myrtle Beach, so if you and your girlfriends want to get in some quality time on the Grand Strand, visit one of these annual fetes:

First Blush of Summer: Hosted by La Belle Amie Vineyard in late May/early June, this festival offers live music and wine tastings in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Art in the Park: This runs periodically throughout the summer and features original works and pieces by local artists.
